From Khatgal, you will travel by vehicle along the shoreline of Lake Khuvsgul to the boundary of the Special Protected Area — approximately ... km. From there, your horseback journey begins on a rugged, earthy mountain trail.
Experienced guides and prepared horses will be waiting. After a short orientation, the horseback ride begins. Horses can comfortably cover up to 25–30 km in one direction per day.
⛰️ Chuchuu Khairkhan – “The Watcher from Afar”
Rising 2444 meters above sea level, Chuchuu Khairkhan proudly stands on the western shore of Lake Khuvsgul. Its name means “the one who watches from afar.” From the summit, you'll be greeted by:
The majestic Khoridol Saridag range to the west and northwest
The distant Sayan Mountains beyond
The snow-capped Burenkhan Mountain to the north
The Sant Range extending eastward

Descent duration: ~1 hour
Distance to the summit: ~5 km
At the summit, enjoy a panoramic view of the entire Lake Khuvsgul below — a perfect opportunity for sketching or simply absorbing the scenery. You may also take part in a small ritual to honor and connect with nature (simple and respectful, not ceremonial).
Lunch packs prepared for the journey will be enjoyed here. Expect serenity — the only sounds will be birdsong, trickling streams, and the whisper of the forest. This experience offers a true escape from the digital noise, allowing for reflection and a moment of inner peace.
